ohdesign ipod dock concept

I recently went to 100% design London and tent which I recommend to anyone interested in design to go to next year's events. Here is an inspired by Thelermont Hupton's simple clock that i made into a concept iPod dock. Thank you for looking please take a look at my other work along the tabs! =]

Solid Works 2011: speakers

Practacing drawing speakers for possible design im thinking about lots of solid works done before back to uni

Guitar amp now is an ipod dock

After changing the appearance of the guitar amp and it not really having a use with other amps now in the house I decided to see if it would work as an mp3/iPod dock. Reading around I found that this may not work, but with the cable needed being only £2 I decided to try it. Well you can see and hear from the video that it works pretty well. The quality isn’t actually that bad ether and improves on songs that have guitars or basses in them.

Ipod Dock

After seeing bananaboxdesign blog on his mp3 dock, I decided to try and have ago myself. After looking into dock designs i liked the tubular ones with speakers on the outside. I wanted my speakers to feel and look more organic so i choose to look for a piece of wood that would hold the speakers in either side. After looking for a suitable piece of wood in the woods I decided to go back and try another spot but came across this log. It wasn’t straight but it added to the organic shape of the wood that I liked straight away and could see how the design would look in the end.

Here is the final ipod dock. Very happy with how it has turned out apart from these are the only speakers I could use for it at the moment :(. Would like to do this again with better speakers and tools to get a better finish. Thank you for looking please leave a comment.

Mp3 Update

So far the log is now sanded ready for the holes to be drilled to help hollow most of the log out. While I wait for the drill I have made a sketch model just of the concept of the idea please comment on what you think of the design.
